Kevin Elliott: Thank you for having me.
Molly Enking: And so, Kevin, what inspired you to write this book and why were busy people the focus?
Kevin Elliott: It has a lot to do with my background. As a matter of fact, my family. So the book is dedicated to my mother.

Edward Louis Severson III was born on December 23, 1964, in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, Illinois, to Karen Lee Vedder and Edward Louis Severson Jr. Vedder’s parents divorced when he was a baby in 1965.
His mother remarried Peter Mueller not long after. Vedder has Norwegian (Severson) and Dutch, German, and Danish ancestors (Vedder). Vedder’s family fostered seven younger children in a group home while residing in Evanston.
The family, which included Vedder’s three younger half-brothers, relocated to San Diego County, California, in the mid-1970s.
