Affordable dwelling program has units available for seniors

The Loudoun County Affordable Dwelling Unit program has units available in active adult communities that serve people 55 and older, county officials said in a statement.

The available properties are two-bedroom, two-bathroom condominiums in the Ashburn area. In addition to the age, income and credit requirements, applicants to buy the properties must have no children in their households and must not have owned a house in the past three years.

Nominations sought for Loudoun History Awards

The Thomas Balch Library Advisory Commission is seeking nominations for the 21st annual Loudoun History Awards. The deadline for nominations is Oct. 7.

The awards recognize people who have made significant contributions to preserving Loudoun County’s past.

Letters of nomination should include a summary of the nominee's accomplishments. Newspaper articles, publications and other supporting information may be included. Nominations, including contact information for the nominee and nominator, may be sent to Alexandra S. Gressitt at the Thomas Balch Library, 208 W. Market St., Leesburg, Va. 20176. Loudoun seeks candidates for rural development council

Loudoun County is seeking candidates for the Rural Economic Development Council, which promotes Loudoun’s rural economy, including agricultural, horticultural and equine industries. There are six openings on the 31-member council, county officials said. The two-year terms will begin Jan. 1.

Applicants must submit a letter of interest and a résumé to the Office of the Board of Supervisors and to the Department of Economic Development, via mail or e-mail, by the close of business Oct. 13.
