Marcus Rashford's red card and Manchester United's subsequent defeat by FC Copenhagen on Wednesday took the shine off an impressive night for Rasmus Hojlund, according to Statman Dave.
Hojlund's brace means he now has five goals in his first four Champions League games for Manchester United which is a better start than any player in the club’s history in the competition.
"He’s a player that is going to come alive for Manchester United, he is the main man. He took his goals very well and was very effective as a goalscorer. The way United used him was better," Statman Dave told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily.
"Going into this game I was looking at where Hojlund was scoring his goals from last season. Out of 23 for club and country, eight were from low crosses and cutbacks and the first one [against Copenhagen] was from that. It’s about creating those moments and getting the ball into the channel.
"He’s almost a bit of an old school centre-forward that you just need to serve. In terms of his goal stats in the Champions League, he has a goal every 68 minutes which is absolutely phenomenal."
Steve Bruce added: "He’s only young and he’s as willing as they come. He gives everything he’s got and will be delighted with two real tap-ins which a centre-forward needs. That will give him a bit of confidence.
"He could have done with being the match hero with the two goals virtually sending United to the next round. He wants to do well and I’m sure he has a big future ahead of him and the two goals will not do him any harm at all.
"He's been asked to hit the ground running and he’s only young. That is difficult for any top player walking into United and the demands that come on you. He’s got all the talent in the world.
"He’s had a good night in the Champions League, he now needs to get up and running in the Premier League."
