Gregory Alan “Greg” Maddux, nicknamed “Mad Dog” and “The Professor”, is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. He is best known for playing for the Chicago Cubs and the Atlanta Braves. He was the first pitcher in major league history to win the Cy Young Award for four consecutive years (19921995), a feat matched only by one other pitcher (Randy Johnson). During those four seasons, Maddux had a 7529 record with a 1.98 earned run average (ERA), while allowing less than one runner per inning.
He decided to enter the MLB draft after receiving no scholarship offers upon graduating from Valley High School in Las Vegas.
